The Wyvern Open Data Program is a free collection of hyperspectral satellite imagery from Wyvern's Dragonette constellation, released so that data scientists, students, researchers and developers can test and validate new applications, accelerate product development and explore what hyperspectral imagery can show. It launched on 30 January 2025 with 25 images and now offers more than 100 scenes; Wyvern has said it will keep expanding the collection as the constellation collects more imagery, including over significant humanitarian events, to support humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
The scenes capture up to 31 visible and near-infrared bands (23 bands at about 503–799 nm on Standard VNIR scenes, 31 bands at about 445–870 nm on Extended VNIR scenes) at 5.3 m ground sampling distance at nadir. By default they are processed to L2A surface reflectance and delivered as Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs with data and pixel-quality masks; a small separate collection holds L1B top-of-atmosphere radiance scenes. All scenes are listed in a static STAC 1.0.0 catalog grouped by year, by application (including agriculture, forestry, mining, energy, coastal, disaster, and peace and security) and by spectral range, and can be browsed and downloaded at opendata.wyvern.space with no sign-up.
The imagery is licensed under CC BY 4.0, which allows any use provided Wyvern is credited. Wyvern's Knowledge Centre offers tutorials built on the open data for QGIS with EnMAP-Box, ArcGIS Pro, ENVI and Python, a library of 34 spectral indices, and public notebooks and code on GitHub.
