Weather API is Tomorrow.io's developer and enterprise interface to its weather data. It lets software teams build weather-dependent features into their own applications, dashboards, automated workflows and AI agents instead of maintaining their own forecast pipeline.
Tomorrow.io states that it draws on the traditional weather sources (radar, weather satellites, weather stations and radiosondes) and adds new sensing technologies, including cell towers, which its proprietary models and AI/ML combine into forecasts. Its fires insight category issues Active Fire events when the VIIRS instrument on the Suomi NPP and NOAA-20 satellites detects a fire pixel. Real-time and 0-6 hour precipitation comes from its Unified Precipitation model, which applies machine learning to multi-channel imagery from geostationary satellites including GOES-16/18, Himawari-9 and Meteosat-9/10, so precipitation is detected outside radar coverage. Through a REST interface returning JSON, or in natural language for AI agents (an LLM-ready API and a hosted MCP server), the API serves 60+ data layers covering core weather, air quality, pollen, solar, soil, fire, flood, lightning, maritime and aviation reports, for any location worldwide. Endpoints cover real-time conditions, forecasts up to 14 days, hourly and daily history up to 20 years back, map tiles for Mapbox, Google Maps, Leaflet, OpenLayers and Cesium, weather along routes, and monitored point, polygon or polyline locations (GeoJSON) with alerts and webhook notifications.
A free plan includes a 5-day forecast, core layers, 24 hours of history, one monitored location and one alert; the Enterprise plan, offered on request, adds the 14-day forecast, premium layers, minutely data, custom SLAs, SSO and technical and meteorological support. Tomorrow.io reports 99.9% uptime and more than 30,000 developers using the API. Uber integrated Tomorrow.io's insights and weather API into its platform in 2020.

Tomorrow.io
Tomorrow.io provides weather intelligence for organisations: its Resilience Platform turns forecasts into automated alerts and operational workflows, and its Weather API delivers real-time, forecast and historical weather data to applications. It operates its own constellation of radar and microwave-sounder weather satellites, sells satellite data products from it, and is building the next-generation DeepSky constellation.
