Vision Impulse is a Kaiserslautern-based spin-off of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) that builds machine-learning analytics on satellite, aerial, drone and sensor data for private companies and public authorities. Its geospatial work is offered as engineering, data-analytics and consulting services.
The company reports developing and launching machine-learning models for large-scale change detection over more than 100 TB of satellite data, a forest inventory solution with AI-based loss detection, and urban data analytics that combine cadastral and statistical data with aerial and satellite images. In the EU Horizon 2020 project RapidAI4EO (2021-2023) it worked with Planet, VITO, IIASA and Serco on deep-learning land-cover mapping and change detection that combined Sentinel-2 with Planet Fusion imagery across Europe. An ESA kick-start study, ForestAI, described a forest-monitoring service using Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat and Planet imagery for deforestation warnings and forest-health maps. Its open-source Urban-Climate-Analyzer derives urban heat islands from Landsat 8 land-surface temperature and vegetation indices from Sentinel-2 to support municipal planning, and publishes the results through GeoServer.
Deliverables include trained models, processing pipelines, map layers and web or mobile applications built for the client. Vision Impulse also trains client teams to operate what it builds.

Vision Impulse
Vision Impulse is a spin-off of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), based in Kaiserslautern, that develops AI solutions and provides software engineering, data analytics and consulting services. In the geospatial sector its models analyse data captured by satellites, airplanes, drones, mobile and sensor devices, for example large-scale change detection on 100+ TB of satellite data and urban analytics that combine cadastral, statistical, aerial and satellite data for public and private customers.
