Terrain is terraPulse's suite of topographic data layers. The layers are static over time and are meant to aid interpretation of terraPulse's dynamic, satellite-based variables when deciding on site selection for agricultural and forest uses, habitat improvement and energy development. terraPulse states that the suite is derived from gridded measurements of elevation captured by optical and radar sensors aboard a variety of Earth-orbiting satellites, and names USGS as the source of each layer.
Five standard layers are offered at 30-metre resolution with global extent: Elevation (feet or metres), Slope (degrees or percent), Aspect (azimuth degrees), a Topographic Moisture Index (watershed catchment area divided by the tangent of slope; called the Topographic Wetness Index in the product guide) and ViewScore, a topographic visibility index giving the visible area in square kilometres.
Terrain is part of the terraPulse data cube. The layers can be viewed in the terraView dashboard, which supports point and polygon summaries, and terraPulse data are delivered via SFTP, through the terraServe API in GeoJSON, CSV, SHP or TIFF format, or as XYZ map tiles for ArcGIS, QGIS, Leaflet, OpenLayers and other mapping applications. The platform runs on Amazon Web Services. terraPulse publishes no prices; orders are placed by contacting the company.

terraPulse
terraPulse maps and monitors the status, history and potential of large landscapes through satellite-based measurements of forest, crop, range and wildland productivity. Its data cube of ecosystem cover, structure and function, from 1984 to the present, is delivered as datasets, through the terraView browser platform and through the terraServe API. The company was founded in 2014 by scientists from the University of Maryland Global Land Cover Facility.
