Satellite IoT tags for global wildlife, agriculture, environment and logistics tracking

TALOS is a satellite-based IoT tracking platform that combines ultra-compact tags (under 5 grams, 19×25×10 mm) with a proprietary LEO satellite constellation and cloud data platform to monitor movement and environmental conditions globally. Built on Max Planck Society ICARUS initiative research and validated aboard the International Space Station, the platform now operates dedicated 6U CubeSats in low Earth orbit (500–600 km), delivering up to six location updates per day per asset. Bidirectional communication allows remote reconfiguration of tags after deployment. Tags collect location, temperature, humidity, pressure, acceleration, and luminosity data from regions entirely beyond terrestrial network coverage. The system serves wildlife conservation, agriculture, environmental research, and logistics, offering a managed service model in which TALOS handles mission design, satellite operations, and tracking technology. Data is relayed through commercial ground stations and made available via standardised digital interfaces (API) for integration into client monitoring and analysis workflows.
