Spectra is Climate X's physical climate risk platform for banks, real estate firms, asset managers and insurers. It addresses the difficulty of pricing climate hazards into lending, investment and underwriting decisions, and of meeting stress-testing and disclosure requirements, when past disasters are a poor guide to future extreme weather.
For an address, an uploaded portfolio or a polygon, Spectra returns risk ratings, hazard probability and severity, and annual losses in monetary and percentage terms, under RCP and SSP climate scenarios from 2020 to 2100. The hazards modelled are river, surface and coastal flooding, storm surge, wildfire, landslide, subsidence, North Atlantic storms, tropical cyclones, drought and extreme heat, at resolutions of up to 30 m. The models follow the IPCC framework of hazard, exposure and vulnerability and combine climate model projections with remote sensing data and a proprietary building database. The Global Wildfire model draws on satellite data from 2000 to 2025 and is calibrated against satellite burned-area products such as MODIS. In October 2025 Climate X announced that Fathom's Global Flood model would be embedded in Spectra from early 2026.
Spectra is delivered as a web platform and as an Enterprise API that accepts up to 100,000 assets per query, with PDF reports and CSV exports for IFRS S2, CSRD and EU Taxonomy reporting. An Infrastructure Screener module screens line, polygon and network assets such as solar farms, transmission lines and pipelines. Climate X describes the methodology as aligned with model risk management principles and holds ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 certification. Climate X's announced clients include CBRE, Triodos Bank (which is integrating Spectra into its risk management processes) and Aroundtown.
