SkyWatch BUILD is SkyWatch's offering for software developers who want to add Earth observation imagery search, purchase and delivery to their own applications. Without it, an application has to build identity, sourcing, payments and fulfilment itself and negotiate a separate contract with each imagery provider. BUILD exposes these functions through the SkyWatch platform's REST API (documented as the SkyWatch EarthCache API) and seven platform services: identity (user creation, KYC checks, permissions), archive and tasking search across what SkyWatch states are 700+ satellite, aerial and drone sensors, ordering, fulfilment with automated quality assessment, payments, policy rules, and geocoding and area-of-interest management. The catalogue includes free Sentinel-2 and Landsat open data, Airbus Pléiades, Pléiades Neo, SPOT and TerraSAR-X, Maxar/Vantor imagery including WorldView Legion, Planet SkySat and Tanager, and SAR from ICEYE, Capella Space and Umbra. Orders are delivered as Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs with STAC metadata and can be streamed as DirectView or WMTS layers into ArcGIS or QGIS; webhooks and AOI monitors notify applications of order events and new imagery. Developers request access to BUILD, and their users sign in with a single SkyWatch ID that SkyWatch says reaches its network of 7,500+ organisations. Data is billed pay-as-you-use, and partner applications can earn a revenue share on every data transaction that flows through them. Scribble Maps integrated BUILD in 2024 so that its users can order satellite imagery inside its online mapping tool.
