Scalgo Live is a browser-based platform for planning around surface water. Engineers, planners, architects and municipalities use it to see where rainwater comes from, how it flows and where it collects, and to test terrain-based solutions before detailed design.
The platform comes with preloaded data and ready-made interactive analyses: a flash flood map, depression-free flow with watershed queries, a depression map and sea-level rise, all controlled with sliders. In 16 European countries and the USA it runs on detailed national elevation models from government mapping agencies, which Scalgo enriches with culverts and with land cover mapped from aerial imagery. Elsewhere, a Global theme combines the Copernicus DEM GLO-30 (built from TanDEM-X radar data) with ESA WorldCover 10 m land cover (built from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2), and users can upload their own elevation or land cover data.
Workspaces let users edit terrain, land cover, buildings, culverts and pipe networks, then recompute runoff and infiltration and get cut-and-fill estimates. Modelspaces visualise imported hydrodynamic simulation results, Canvas supports shared plans and notes, and 3D site models export to CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit.
Scalgo, founded in Aarhus in 2010, launched the platform in Denmark in 2016 and reports more than 35,000 users. Published users include Aabenraa Municipality, the City of Pori and Environmental Protection Group. Annual licences are priced by usage or by population with unlimited users, and the platform is free for teaching and research at higher-education institutions.
