Satellite Data is Tomorrow.io's line of observation data products taken directly from the company's own weather satellites, for agencies and organisations that need precipitation and atmospheric measurements where ground radar and other observations are sparse.
The data comes from two instruments. Pathfinder satellites carry Ka-band (35.5–36 GHz) precipitation radars that measure reflectivity profiles through storms. The Tomorrow.io Microwave Sounder (TMS), flown on 6U CubeSats, is a passive microwave radiometer with 12 channels between 91 and 204 GHz and a 2,200 km swath, sensing temperature, water vapour and precipitation through cloud.
The catalogue runs from calibrated measurements to retrievals: radar L1C-GEOPROF reflectivity profiles and L2A-PRECIP estimates of hydrometeor water content, phase and surface precipitation rate, with probabilities of frozen, convective and hail precipitation; and TMS L1B and L1C brightness temperatures and L2A-ATVP temperature and humidity profiles. Files are netCDF4 or other WMO-compatible formats, with a near-real-time stream, delivered through API endpoints, Amazon S3 buckets or other pipelines. Tomorrow.io supports ingestion into data assimilation systems such as JEDI, and sample datasets can be downloaded from its website.
Tomorrow.io reports a 0.89 correlation between its L2A-PRECIP rates and MRMS gauge-adjusted radar over the United States (August–November 2023). The sounder fleet reached a 60-minute global revisit in January 2026. NOAA bought TMS data under a 2024 Microwave Sounder Data Pilot and a $7.3 million Microwave Sounder Data Buy awarded in June 2026. NASA's Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition program offers the radar products to approved users and in September 2026 awarded a $3 million evaluation task order for TMS data.

Tomorrow.io
Tomorrow.io provides weather intelligence for organisations: its Resilience Platform turns forecasts into automated alerts and operational workflows, and its Weather API delivers real-time, forecast and historical weather data to applications. It operates its own constellation of radar and microwave-sounder weather satellites, sells satellite data products from it, and is building the next-generation DeepSky constellation.
