RoadViewer is Anditi's cloud-based 3D web portal and AI processing system for road corridor safety assessment and asset management. Road authorities have traditionally rated road safety by having accredited coders review video footage segment by segment, and have inventoried roadside assets by sending survey crews into traffic, which is slow, subjective and hazardous.
RoadViewer ingests mobile and aerial LiDAR, 360-degree imagery, aerial imagery and, where available, satellite imagery, captured by Anditi's own mapping vehicle, sourced from its network of data suppliers or supplied by the client. Signal processing and machine-learning routines extract road features and safety attributes such as line markings, safety barriers, kerbs, poles, trees and medians. In the browser, coders move between the point cloud and 360-degree imagery, measure distance, slope, road curvature and volume, code iRAP Star Rating attributes for each 100 m segment and review finalised ratings. Outputs include 2D and 3D GIS/CAD files and iRAP ViDA-compatible spreadsheets. The same data supports road asset extraction, lane-by-lane bridge vertical clearance measurement and swept path analysis for oversized and heavy vehicles.
RoadViewer is an iRAP-accredited inspection system and, by Anditi's account, the only AiRAP-accredited inspection system; Anditi is AiRAP-accredited for 34 road attributes, accredited through the iMOVE research project for Transport for NSW, in which it extracted 52 attributes from TomTom's mobile LiDAR data. Main Roads Western Australia used it on 2,000 km of roads at a reported 50% cost reduction against traditional methods, then awarded Anditi a 19,164 km AiRAP contract. Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Victorian Department of Transport have also commissioned assessments with it. Anditi states the portal supports assessment of 50 road safety attributes. Satellite imagery was used alongside LiDAR and aerial imagery in the 2022 Victorian pilot; most published projects rely on LiDAR and 360-degree imagery.
