RiskView is a wildfire risk monitoring and decision-support platform from Forsite, built for electric utility operations. Utilities whose lines cross fire-prone forest and grassland need to know where and when an asset could start a fire, or be threatened by one, as weather and fuel conditions change; static risk maps do not show this.
RiskView combines fire weather forecasts, fire behaviour and spread modelling, utility asset data and consequence data (values at risk) into risk scores at span or structure level that update as conditions change. Fuels come from Forsite's Fuel ID tool, which builds current fuel type maps from satellite imagery (Sentinel-2 for province-scale mapping) and, where available, LiDAR. Fuel ID satellite fuel mapping currently covers British Columbia and Alberta. RiskView also serves dynamic grass curing, crop curing and snow cover estimates at 100 m, driven by satellite-derived indices. Tree-level vegetation analytics from LiDAR (species, growth, health and utility-specific intrusion codes) can be layered in for vegetation management.
The map-based dashboard offers configurable multi-day forecast horizons, threshold-based alerts and crew notifications, and hourly decision support for Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS), Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) and recloser blocking. Decision logs, audit trails and regulator-ready reporting support compliance, wildfire mitigation and capital planning. RiskView integrates with Esri, OMS and ADMS systems, and risk scores can be pushed into client operations systems through API-based data exchange. Forsite reports that a major Alberta transmission operator uses RiskView to predict where a PSPS event will occur, and for how long.
