Regional Subscription Services – United Kingdom is SatSense's high-resolution InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) service for measuring ground and structural movement in major UK cities. SatSense's nationwide Sentinel-1 C-band dataset, with a 5 x 20 m resolution cell, captures wide-area movement at low cost but can fall short for monitoring individual structures such as buildings and bridges. This subscription adds commercial X-band InSAR data over selected cities: Birmingham, Bristol, London and Manchester are shown on the product page, which compares Sentinel-1 and TerraSAR-X results over Mayfair, London.
The X-band data has a 3 x 3 m resolution cell and an 11-day repeat. SatSense states that it gives a higher density of measurement points, sub-metre geolocation of those points and greater sensitivity to small displacements, so that the movement of individual buildings and road segments can be tracked. Subscribers view average-velocity maps in SatSense's web portal, and SatSense also offers API, WMS and GIS-ready file access to its InSAR data.
The service addresses risks that ground and structural movement pose to infrastructure, property, natural hazards and legacy industry in the UK. Optera, a structural repair specialist working on domestic insurance subsidence claims, uses SatSense's High Resolution InSAR datasets covering multiple UK cities in its satellite monitoring service, which provides up to four years of retrospective movement data for a claim. SatSense's announcement reports that Optera delivers comprehensive reports within two weeks of instruction and, on average, a 78% shorter investigation phase, 57% cost savings versus traditional level monitoring and 96% lower carbon emissions.
