Planetary Intelligence OS is the name Solafune gives to its integrated, AI-based intelligence work for governments and international organisations. These customers must monitor defence and security threats, mining, disasters, infrastructure and land and forest change over areas too large for field surveys or manual analysis.
The system gathers intelligence from multiple sources, integrates it and analyses it with AI. The sources are GEOINT (satellite and aerial imagery and other geospatial data), OSINT (social media, open data, web crawling and official publications) and SIGINT (signals and cyber-security data). Solafune applies it to:
ShigenAI is still under development, in a UNIDO-funded demonstration in the DRC that runs from September 2025 to October 2027. Solafune designs it for companies and specialists in mineral exploration and development. UNDP's Digital X catalogue describes its dashboard for government agencies and ShigenBot, a natural-language assistant for querying satellite imagery and generating reports.
Solafune names Japan's Ministry of Defense, Cabinet Office, National Police Agency, Ministry of the Environment, JAXA and the Japan Meteorological Agency as clients. Abroad, it runs a UNIDO-funded project (USD 5.34 million) with the DRC's national geological service that monitors mining with satellite data and AI. It lists government partnerships in Côte d'Ivoire, the DRC, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, Togo and Zambia, and has a satellite-monitoring contract with IOM (UN Migration) on border areas, natural resources and risk mapping. Its stated business is satellite data analysis, software licensing and related services.

Solafune
Solafune is a Tokyo-based technology company that develops satellite data analysis technology and uses AI to integrate geospatial intelligence (satellite and aerial imagery), open-source intelligence and signals intelligence, an approach it calls its Planetary Intelligence OS. It applies this to defence and intelligence, mining, disaster management, infrastructure monitoring, and agricultural and forest monitoring, for Japanese government agencies, foreign governments and United Nations agencies. It also runs the Solafune community platform for satellite and geospatial data science competitions.
