SkyGeo's Permian Basin InSAR Subscription Service gives oil and gas operators recurring measurements of ground uplift and subsidence across the Permian Basin. Salt water disposal and production raise pore pressure in a busy, stacked subsurface; the resulting fluid migration is linked to induced seismicity and leaves subtle surface footprints that can precede well failures and surface events.
SkyGeo processes satellite radar imagery with interferometry (InSAR) to measure surface motion at millimetre scale. Its basin-wide processing builds on C-band Sentinel-1 imagery, and SkyGeo states its premium services can also integrate C-, L- and X-band data. The service has three tiers:
SkyGeo also supports inversion of the surface data for geomechanical models and history matching with oilfield production and injection data.
Results are delivered through SkyGeo's cloud-based interactive viewer. A free, deliberately entry-level basin-wide map (InsideInSAR) gives a screening view of Permian ground motion; SkyGeo describes it as a starting point, with the paid services adding higher-fidelity products, analytics and support. SkyGeo positions the subscription as an early-warning and screening layer for subsidence, uplift and localised anomalies that may affect wells, facilities and roads. In one Permian case it reports persistent uplift around a Crane County well 1.5 years before a geyser event.
