KPGeo, a photogrammetric mapping and surveying company with offices in Kraków, Poland and Kansas City, USA, produces orthophoto maps, true orthophoto maps and colour-infrared (CIR) orthophoto maps for use in GIS. An orthophoto is a geometrically corrected image of the ground at uniform scale, so distances can be measured on it and it can serve as a base layer; KPGeo names uses such as planning urban and regional infrastructure, creating land-use and soil maps and determining flood plain boundaries.
The maps are produced from aerial, UAV or satellite imagery. KPGeo can perform every stage of production: image acquisition, Ground Control Points measurement, aerotriangulation, orthorectification, mosaicking with radiometric corrections and quality control. Its true orthophoto maps are a specialised product with complete orthogonality of the image. Outputs are delivered in RGB, RGBI or CIR bands, at resolutions from 2 cm, in GeoTIFF, ECW and ERDAS Image formats.
For airports, KPGeo produces orthophotomaps of the aerodrome and, if needed, the full Control Zone (CTR). Satellite orthophotos are made from high-resolution satellite imagery at 30–60 cm ground sample distance with absolute accuracy (CE90) below 1 m; plane or drone orthophotos reach 2–10 cm with 5–25 cm CE90.
In a 2014 project published as a case study, KPGeo delivered 30 cm aerial ortho mosaics covering more than 18,000 km² of regions in England, Germany, Wales and Norway for DigitalGlobe's European Aerial Photography project. KPGeo's quality management system is ISO 9001:2015 and AQAP 2110:2016 certified.
