NEXTMap Elevation Data is Intermap Technologies' suite of digital elevation models: a digital surface model (DSM) that keeps buildings and vegetation, and a bare-earth digital terrain model (DTM). It covers any location worldwide at postings up to 1 m, with vertical accuracy up to 1 m LE90 and horizontal up to 3.5 m CE90 depending on area. Coarse elevation models such as 30 m DEMs do not represent cliffs, hills and other terrain well; NEXTMap is aimed at users who need finer, consistent terrain data.
Intermap produces the suite with patented processing that includes AI and machine-learning techniques. Its 1 m global tier, NEXTMap One, is built with Intermap's IRIS fusion system from high-resolution satellite imagery combined with multi-band radar, LiDAR and other datasets. The product specification lists spaceborne collection for the 1 m, 6 m and 10 m tiers and airborne collection, from Intermap's own IFSAR radar, for the 1 m and 5 m tiers. Datasets are void-free, with an optional hydro-enforced version.
Buyers can download data for a custom area of interest from the NEXTMap Web Store, subscribe to hosted OGC WMS/WCS services and a terrain API, or connect from Global Mapper; NEXTMap One and NEXTMap 6 are also sold through the UP42 marketplace. Derived layers include slope, hillshade, contours, flood models and hazard maps, and browser tools provide profiles, viewsheds and land-cover clutter. Intermap markets the data to government, telecommunications (RF link planning), renewable energy, insurance and engineering users. The Snow Leopard Trust used NEXTMap 6 to study how terrain ruggedness affects snow leopard behaviour in southern Mongolia.
