Mayday.ai is a centralised, AI-based platform from Mayday.ai GmbH (Darmstadt, Germany) that provides real-time risk, disaster and environmental intelligence. It targets the fragmented, reactive way disaster information reaches first responders, agencies and the public, and aims to shift the focus from reaction to risk reduction in line with the Sendai Framework.
The platform's data-agnostic AI fusion engine combines geostationary and polar-orbiting satellite imagery, including Copernicus imagery, with camera feeds, audio and social-media sentiment analysis, plus customers' own data such as CCTV. Mayday.ai states that it draws on 300 GEO and LEO satellites, with global geostationary updates every 5-10 minutes and SAR among its inputs. The company began by applying machine learning to NOAA GOES-16/17 imagery to detect wildfires through partial cloud cover; its wildfire detection engine, integrated with the Esri platform, updates every 10 minutes globally and every 5 minutes over the US, and tracked more than 3,000 fire-start detections across EMEA in a 48-hour window in 2025. Alongside wildfire detection the provider offers flood monitoring.
Users work in a common operating picture with dashboards, automated and self-service reporting, command-and-control workflows and two-way community communication, backed by on-demand high-resolution satellite and drone imagery and a 24/7 operational centre. Services cover event management for public agencies and enterprises (including industrial site monitoring), environmental monitoring, and insurance (risk modelling, impact assessment and claims modules). Forestry company CMPC uses the service for wildfire and illegal-logging monitoring in Chile and Brazil. The platform was developed with support from ESA's InCubed programme and DLR. In 2025 Mayday AI / Guardian Space was named a finalist and milestone awardee in the XPRIZE Wildfire Space-Based Detection & Intelligence track.
