mapcy is e-GEOS's on-demand mapping service for disaster and emergency management. It provides 24/7, near-real-time geoinformation anywhere in the world, giving emergency managers standard and customised maps and analytics within 3 hours of satellite data becoming available.

When the service is activated, relevant optical and radar satellites are tasked over the affected area, and the imagery is combined with airborne and drone (RPAS) data, social and traditional media, in-situ data and meteorological data. Products include pre-event reference maps; delineation and grading maps that show the extent of floods, fires and other events and the severity of damage; a damage proxy map, produced by an automatic workflow, that identifies affected infrastructure over wide areas; and an Enhanced Flood Footprint, a hydraulic model giving flood extent, depth, retention and velocity. The service also offers an interactive dashboard and analytics. Early-warning systems are monitored so that COSMO-SkyMed radar acquisitions, which work day and night in all weather, can be scheduled before an event. Activations cover floods, fires, storms and hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanic activity and humanitarian crises.

A team of experts runs the service all year and helps customers define the products they need. e-GEOS is the sole provider of COSMO-SkyMed data and leads the consortia that provide the Copernicus Emergency Management Service Rapid Mapping and Risk and Recovery Mapping services to the European Commission. Users include civil protection and humanitarian operators and insurers. In 2021 the Lazio Region contracted e-GEOS to supply its Civil Protection Department with maps through mapcy.
