Lido Surface Data NEXTView is a worldwide aviation terrain dataset produced by Intermap Technologies with its aviation partner Lufthansa Systems. Inaccurate terrain data in aviation can threaten safety, and Intermap shows that a common global source, ASTER satellite terrain data, is unusable for aerodrome operations at Munich airport.
NEXTView features Intermap's NEXTMap elevation data: a seamless 6-metre digital surface model of the whole Earth (NEXTMap lists its 6 m data as spaceborne-collected), with vertical accuracy of up to 3 m LE90 (3-20 m depending on surface and slope) and 5 m CE90 horizontal accuracy. It combines this surface with more than one million obstacles and detailed aerodrome and runway models for over 12,000 airports, incorporating Lufthansa Systems' certified airport database, into one global dataset that is continually maintained.
The dataset holds an EASA Service Provider Type 1 certificate (2020) and meets RTCA DO-200B, DO-276C and DO-291C; Intermap states its vertical accuracy meets ICAO Annex 15. It is designed for synthetic and combined vision systems, terrain awareness and ground proximity warning systems (TAWS, EGPWS), flight planning, procedure design and performance calculation, charting and simulation, emergency landing site evaluation, and drone and UTM operations, where it supports route and delivery-zone planning. Civil aviation authorities use it for air traffic route design. Drone maker Wingcopter subscribed to NEXTView in 2021; Aviatize integrated it into its IDRONECT UTM for a medical drone-delivery pilot in Africa (2021); Skyroads AG, with cloudeo, uses it for obstacle management in its automated airspace management system (2022); and a further UTM provider contracted it for planned urban air taxi routes in the Paris region.
