Kermap, a French geospatial AI company, produces bespoke maps, indicators and diagnostic studies for local authorities, planning bodies and State services. These clients need precise, up-to-date knowledge of their territory for urban plans (PLU, SCoT), soil-sealing targets, biodiversity policy and climate adaptation.
The service lines cover land-use mapping and soil-sealing monitoring; urban and rural vegetation mapping at 1:2,000; green and blue infrastructure, ecological continuity and hedgerow inventories; forest canopy and biomass/carbon-sequestration mapping from satellite and LiDAR data; quantification of ecosystem services (carbon, cooling, runoff); urban heat-island and cool-island mapping by satellite thermography; and agricultural climate indicators (irrigated areas, water stress, forage production, NDVI/LAI vigour) from optical and radar satellite imagery. Kermap's in-house deep-learning models extract the features, analysts refine them by photo-interpretation, and statistics and predictive models are added on top.
The input depends on the line. Heat-island maps use thermal satellite images (for Montpellier, a Landsat 8 day image and an ASTER night image). Kermap's irrigated-crop model, developed in the ESA-supported CROP project, uses Sentinel-1 radar and Sentinel-2 optical data. Several land-use, vegetation and hedgerow studies were produced from aerial orthophotos instead (IGN imagery for Nice Ecovallée, La Roche-sur-Yon and Grand Rovaltain).
Results are delivered as GIS layers, reports, dashboards or visualisation platforms, and the services are also listed on UGAP, the French public purchasing agency. Published cases include Brest Métropole (vegetation, heat islands and a hedgerow network measured at 1,588 km in 2023 against about 1,648 km in 2015), the City of Troyes, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the Pays de Saint-Brieuc, EPA Nice Ecovallée, the Golfe du Morbihan regional nature park and EPIC, a 2024–2026 France 2030 State contract to map irrigated parcels and vegetation cover across metropolitan France, Réunion and Martinique.

Kermap
Kermap is a French geospatial AI company, founded in 2017 and based in Cesson-Sévigné (Brittany), that turns satellite and airborne imagery into geographic information using deep learning. It produces land-use, vegetation, crop and change data, spatial analyses and interactive map platforms, notably Nimbo (monthly cloud-free global satellite basemaps and crop analytics) and Nos Villes Vertes (urban trees). Its customers include regional and local authorities such as Région Grand Est and Rennes Métropole, public bodies such as France's agriculture ministry and INRAE, and companies such as Nestlé France and McCain, across agriculture, environment and urban planning.
