Intermap Orthorectification Service corrects geometric distortions in satellite imagery caused by terrain variation, sensor geometry and viewing perspective, so that features sit at their real ground positions. Intermap describes it as an AI-enabled service for commercial, government and defence applications. It uses Intermap's NEXTMap digital terrain models, which span more than 300 million km² in over 150 countries, with a rational polynomial coefficient (RPC) sensor model to orthorectify single, non-stereo images. Intermap lists support for GeoEye, IKONOS, KOMPSAT, Pléiades, QuickBird, RADARSAT, Sentinel-1, SPOT-5/6/7, TerraSAR-X and WorldView-1/2/3 imagery and other sensors with RPCs, across radar, RGB, NIR, multispectral, panchromatic and pansharpened image types. Stated terrain-model accuracy is 1 m RMSE where NEXTMap One regional coverage exists (the United States, Western Europe and parts of Southeast Asia) and 3 m RMSE elsewhere, in low-slope, unobstructed areas. One terrain model gives imagery from several vendors and dates consistent geometry, and elevation data and processing are sold in one price.
Intermap has offered the service since 2019 as a cloud application or a professional service; in the year to March 2021 it used it to orthorectify satellite imagery covering 200 airports, with accuracies up to 1 m depending on region. Since July 2026 it is also an enhancement process on the UP42 platform: selected in the ordering workflow or called through the processing API, priced from 250 UP42 credits per km², it accepts multispectral, primary-level imagery with an RPC file and delivers an orthorectified GeoTIFF. Intermap names infrastructure monitoring, building footprint extraction, utility and transportation planning, property boundary assessment, land-use analysis and change detection as applications.
