InsitePro is a cloud-based natural catastrophe underwriting tool from Intermap Technologies that assesses flood and wildfire risk for single properties or whole portfolios. FEMA flood insurance rate maps only place a property inside or outside a flood zone, and Intermap notes that in the U.S. about half of flood losses occur outside designated risk areas.
InsitePro starts from Intermap's NEXTMap elevation data, which Intermap collects with airborne and spaceborne sensors and processes with water flattening and hydro enforcement. For the continental United States it now uses 1-metre NEXTMap terrain (previously 5-metre); the 2014 release also cited the global NEXTMap World 30 model, which aggregates ASTER and SRTM space-borne elevation data. Underwriters combine this terrain with FEMA flood maps, NOAA storm-surge (MoM) models, other flood maps, loss history and their own data to design a custom risk score: a 0-100 number, a stop-light colour, an underwrite decision or a go/no-go alert. Flood analysis covers coastal, river and surface flooding, with terrain profiles that show how water will flow. Wildfire risk uses AnchorPoint's National Hazard and Risk Model (No-HARM), which models fire behaviour from slope, aspect, elevation, fuel types and climate data.
InsitePro runs in the browser for single-address quoting and portfolio review, and integrates with underwriting and business platforms through an API and web services. Intermap sells it by subscription for flood underwriting anywhere in the U.S. and Canada; named clients include California Flood Insurance (an MGA writing for Lloyd's syndicates), Balance Partners, Superior Flood and Sterling Surplus Underwriting.
