InSAR Norway (InSAR Norge) is a free, nationwide web map of ground movement in Norway, measured by satellite radar interferometry (InSAR). It does not replace on-site measurements such as GPS, but the nationwide data give a quick overview of areas that are moving, so priority areas are easier to identify.
Movement is detected at more than 5 billion points, potentially with millimetre accuracy. Nationwide Copernicus Sentinel-1 data from autumn 2015, in ascending and descending geometries, are processed with Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) using software developed by NORCE, at about 5 x 20 m resolution, and updated once a year from snow-free months. Historical Radarsat-2 data (2010-2018) cover western Norway, parts of Troms and Finnmark, and the Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim areas.
In the browser-based 2D/3D viewer, users click a point or draw a polygon to see displacement time series, fit curves, and export the data as CSV or the plot as SVG. NGU also offers the data through an API on request, and the data are licensed under the Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data (NLOD) 2.0. NGU's examples include subsidence of about 10 mm/year in Trondheim's harbour area and the Gámanjunni 3 rock slope moving about 5 cm a year.
The service was launched in 2018 by NGU, the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) and the Norwegian Space Agency, and runs on NORCE's NLive system. NGU describes it as the world's first nationwide map of ground surface changes free for everyone. A companion map, InSAR Svalbard, covers five Arctic sites with seasonal and multi-year products for permafrost and slope monitoring.

Geographic Scope
Geological Survey of Norway (NGU)
The Geological Survey of Norway (NGU) is the Norwegian state's expert agency for geological resources and geological mapping, an agency under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries with headquarters in Trondheim. It maps Norway's geology and gives society free access to geological knowledge, publishing free map services on bedrock, superficial deposits, mineral resources, marine geology, groundwater and geohazards. Together with NVE and the Norwegian Space Agency it launched InSAR Norway in 2018, a free national map of ground movement measured by satellite radar.
