ICEYE Open Data

ICEYE Open Data is a free archive of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery from ICEYE's own satellite constellation, which ICEYE describes as the world's largest SAR satellite constellation. It gives researchers, developers and educators real SAR data to experiment with, with no registration and no paywall. A curated and growing selection of scenes, acquired from 2023 onwards across ICEYE's Spot, Strip, Scan and Dwell imaging modes, is published under a CC BY 4.0 licence that allows academic, research and commercial use with attribution to ICEYE.

Each scene typically includes Single Look Complex (SLC), Ground Range Detected (GRD) and quicklook images as Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs) with STAC-compliant metadata; Dwell collections add Colorized Subaperture (CSI) images and SAR video in COG, GIF and MP4 formats. The catalogue also groups an interferometric stack over Tenerife.

Users can find data in three ways: an interactive map browser filtered by location, imaging mode and acquisition date; a STAC browser for querying metadata, previewing acquisitions and downloading individual assets; and a public Amazon S3 bucket listed on the AWS Registry of Open Data, which needs no AWS account and offers a notification topic for new data. The COGs open directly in QGIS, ArcGIS Pro and GDAL-based tools, and ICEYE's open-source QGIS plugin can browse the catalogue. ICEYE notes that the open catalogue contains example products that may be experimental and may not fully match its current commercial product specifications.
