ICEYE Hurricane Solution

ICEYE Hurricane Solution gives property insurers an observed view of wind and flood damage across the full extent of a hurricane within 24 hours of landfall, while cloud cover persists and days before aerial or optical imagery typically becomes available. It is built on ICEYE's own synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation, which images through cloud and darkness, combined with ground-based sensor data and auxiliary information.

The solution combines two geospatial data products. Hurricane Rapid Impact is a 30 m raster heat map in which each cell carries a damage score derived from SAR change detection, plus a 500 m vector hex grid that aggregates those scores to neighbourhood level. Flood Insights adds flood extent and building-level flood depth layers in raster and vector form, covering observed flooding over the whole event. The first release arrives within 24 hours of landfall, with updates every 24 hours.

Insurers overlay their portfolios on these layers for event loss sizing, reserving, field resource and adjuster allocation, and wind-versus-flood claims triage. Data is delivered through an ICEYE-hosted ArcGIS Online viewer, a file delivery API, Docsend downloads or partner platforms. Coverage is Category 1 or stronger hurricanes affecting the United States and its inhabited territories, typically up to 100 miles inland. ICEYE trialled the solution during Hurricanes Helene and Milton and launched it in March 2025. Hurricane Rapid Impact is also offered to emergency managers, and ICEYE has announced it will deploy it for Iberdrola's US network assets.
