Pixxel's Hyperspectral Imagery is data from the company's own Firefly satellites, for organisations that need to identify materials, vegetation condition and surface change that conventional sensors miss. Six Firefly satellites, launched in January and August 2025 into sun-synchronous low Earth orbit, capture imagery at about 5 m ground sampling distance in 135 narrow visible and near-infrared bands (roughly 470 to 900 nm) across a swath of about 40 km. Pixxel markets a 24-hour revisit; its documentation gives under 4 to 7 days depending on latitude.
Buyers can task new captures over an area of interest (minimum 100 km², including recurring tasking) or buy archive scenes, through Pixxel's Aurora order desk or a REST API. The standard product is L2A bottom-of-atmosphere reflectance: orthorectified using the Copernicus DEM and atmospherically corrected with the ISOFIT model, packaged as a stacked GeoTIFF with XML metadata, an ENVI header, a GeoJSON footprint and a preview image. Imagery can be downloaded or exported directly to Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage. List prices are $8 per km² for tasking and $6 per km² for archive imagery.
Pixxel presents the imagery for agriculture (crop stress, crop classification, soil nutrients), oil and gas (oil spills, pipeline monitoring, methane leaks), environment (habitat mapping, water quality), forestry, mining (mineral detection, mine closure) and civil government. Partners including UP42, SkyFi and KSAT resell it, and Pixxel holds NASA Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition and NRO Strategic Commercial Enhancements contracts.

Pixxel
Pixxel builds and operates the Firefly constellation of hyperspectral Earth-observation satellites, which capture 5-metre imagery in more than 135 spectral bands with daily global revisit. It sells this imagery and Aurora, a browser-based Earth Observation Studio for tasking, ordering, analysing and visualising satellite data, and also builds satellite platforms for commercial and sovereign missions.
