Hyperion is SynMax's oil and gas activity monitoring and production forecasting service for energy traders, portfolio managers and market analysts. Official production figures from EIA reports and state filings arrive weeks to months after the field activity they describe; Hyperion observes that activity directly. Using daily satellite imaging of North American well pads, it detects drilling rigs, frac crews, drilled-but-uncompleted wells (DUCs) and turn-in-line (TIL) events, and splits rig activity by basin and by oil or gas. Planet has stated that SynMax built its frac crew monitoring on daily PlanetScope imagery, and in December 2024 Satellogic announced an expanded contract to supply high-resolution imagery to Hyperion several times a week for more than 100 wellheads. The observations are cross-checked against historical state-reported production, scrapes of every interstate pipeline in the Lower 48, operator behaviour and market data, and feed machine-learning models that produce daily production estimates, short-term forecasts and a quarterly long-term forecast. SynMax reports 99% accuracy on frac crew activity, 98% accuracy on TIL monitoring against state data and operator guidance, and a lead of one to three months over official EIA production data. Data is delivered through a web platform, a Python API, an Excel add-in and Snowflake, and through AI agents that answer plain-language questions and can pull live Bloomberg prices next to the field data.
