Guidewire HazardHub is a property risk data service for property and casualty (P&C) insurers, MGAs, reinsurers and brokers. For a U.S. address or latitude/longitude it returns more than 50 peril risk scores and over 1,200 underlying risk factors in one API call. The perils span fire and wildfire, weather (wind, hail, tornado, hurricane), water (flood, storm surge, sea level rise), earth (earthquake, sinkhole, landslide) and man-made hazards. Property characteristics, replacement costs and building permits are offered as separate APIs. Each peril is graded A to F, and the underlying components are returned so underwriters can see why a property scores as it does.
Guidewire states that HazardHub's data comes from hundreds of verified entities, "including government agencies, geological surveys, and satellite imagery providers", combined with proprietary data and machine-learning models trained on real-world claims data. The wildfire model ingests vegetation data from satellite imagery, and the Enhanced Wildfire Score uses distance to fuel load, katabatic wind, precipitation, historical wildfire parameters and distance to vegetation burn points. Guidewire does not name the satellite sources.
HazardHub is delivered through a JSON API, a standalone web tool, and built-in integrations with Guidewire PolicyCenter and InsuranceNow. Insurers use it to prefill submissions, automate accept/decline/refer rules, price by peril, prioritise inspections and manage portfolio accumulation. Coverage is the whole U.S., Property Risks data for Canada, and flood, wind, hail and wildfire scores in 23 more countries in Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Guidewire reports more than 300 customers, including Mountain West, Innovated Holdings, Atrium, Southern Farm, Swiss Re, Orion180, Tuscarora Wayne, Arch Insurance Group / Ventus Risk and KIN Insurance. Guidewire cites a potential ROI of a 2 point loss ratio improvement, a 1.4 point expense ratio reduction and a 7% premium growth increase.
