Gisat is a Prague-based remote sensing and geo-information services company, founded in 1990 as the first privately run remote sensing company in Czechia. Its applied Earth observation services turn satellite data into maps, datasets and analyses that business, government and nonprofit clients can use in their decisions.
Each engagement follows the same path: Gisat defines the client's needs, its specialists select and process the most suitable satellite imagery, analysts turn the results into verified intelligence and recommendations, and outputs are delivered through map portals, API integration, GIS databases or ready-to-use maps and reports, with bespoke training on request. The work uses optical and radar data, including Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat, TerraSAR-X/TanDEM-X/PAZ and very high-resolution commercial imagery, and draws on decades of archives for retrospective analysis as well as ongoing monitoring.
Services cover five sectors: agriculture and forestry (crop and forest condition, drought, subsidy control), urban development (urban expansion, green spaces, climate risk), infrastructure and utilities (InSAR ground-motion monitoring of railways, roads, tunnels, bridges and dams, and activity monitoring along protective corridors), hazards (landslides, floods, drought, burned areas) and environment (land cover, habitats, ecosystem condition, SDG and ESG indicators). Published clients include the World Bank, the European Space Agency, the European Investment Bank, UN-Habitat, the Czech Railway Administration, the Road and Highway Directorate, Prague's public transit company and the Czech State Agricultural Intervention Fund. Gisat reports more than 300 projects on five continents.
