GIC (Geo-Information Centre) is e-GEOS's turnkey system for organisations that want to produce Earth observation products on their own premises rather than buy them as a service. e-GEOS installs a bespoke hardware and software platform at the client's site, built from processing building blocks, consolidated workflows and predefined applications based on its AWARE, SEonSE, mapCY, brAInt and AgriGeo platforms, and configures it for the client's application domains: maritime awareness, defence and security, oil and gas, critical infrastructure monitoring, business intelligence, agriculture and fishing, cartography and land management, and emergency management.
The system processes multi-platform data (satellite, aerial and drone) and can integrate commercial, open and client datasets. On request it includes a multi-mission satellite ground station with a 7.3 m antenna and a COSMO-SkyMed Commercial User Terminal (CUT) for radar data, which can be integrated with any optical receiving stations at the client's site, so the client can plan, acquire, receive and process radar and optical data locally. Every GIC comes with installation, technical support and maintenance, plus a training, knowledge-sharing, technology-transfer and capability-building programme; clients can also join a Geo Innovation Lab for joint R&D with e-GEOS and research partners.
A GIC built for the Government of Saint Lucia and managed by Saint Lucia Meteorological Services (SLUMET), funded by the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, was reported operational in 2023 as an early warning and emergency-mapping centre combining COSMO-SkyMed data, weather-radar data and hydraulic models. In 2024 e-GEOS was awarded a contract to implement a GIC for climate emergency management in Vietnam, coordinated by the country's National Remote Sensing Department and based on its SEonSE, AWARE and mapCY platforms; the project is valued at EUR 3.5 million, EUR 3 million of it contributed by Italy.
