Geospatial Intelligence (GeoInt, also written Geo-Int) is a platform from DRAXIS Environmental for multimodal data fusion, analysis and visualisation. It addresses the difficulty of collecting, correlating and visualising different forms of data from many sources, each with its own communication protocol, in one geospatial representation.
The platform integrates edge devices, remote sensing images and geospatial datasets, and combines them with environmental and Earth observation datasets, traffic data and external models and algorithms. Ready-made connectors link commercial or custom IoT devices and other data sources through Kafka event streams. Data is kept in a data lake in Parquet format and processed with remote sensing and GIS technologies on Spark (RasterFrames, GeoMesa) to produce geospatial intelligence layers. Users build web dashboards with maps, charts and workflows, set alarm thresholds on combined real-time variables, and share device or platform data with other applications.
DRAXIS offers GeoInt as a service. The provider states that it is used in installations that monitor climate change indicators (temperature, carbon dioxide levels, sea level and extreme weather events) and that it is offered as a smart city solution for reducing operating costs, urban planning, tackling air pollution and climate change, and mobility and parking. In the EU-funded UP2030 project it serves as the Smart City Decision Support System of the Thessaloniki pilot, combining IoT, satellite, open-source, geospatial and citizen data and connecting to other systems through OGC protocols and REST APIs. In the RescueME project it runs as the Geospatial Data Intelligent Platform for European coastal cultural landscapes, which incorporates open data such as data from the Copernicus Programme. In the NENUPHAR project DRAXIS is developing an online Geospatial Intelligence Platform to help identify synergies between where waste is generated and areas that need nitrogen and phosphorus inputs.
