Geospatial Analysis & Insights is Svarmi's professional analysis service. It turns remote-sensing data into GIS-ready datasets, map layers and reports for sustainable planning, infrastructure development and natural resource management, replacing slow manual field surveys and inventories with repeatable, measurable analysis.
The service integrates drone, satellite, LiDAR and ground-based data and chooses the source per project. Drone LiDAR and photogrammetry drive forest inventories (tree detection, height, density, health and LiDAR-based carbon estimation), wetland terrain and hydrology mapping for restoration design, vegetation-encroachment and clearance analysis near power lines, roads and airport runways, and volumetric change for earthworks and stockpiles. Multispectral satellite imagery can be used for vegetation classification, and historical satellite and aerial time series support long-term change detection over years or decades; land use / land cover classification is also offered. AI and machine-learning models classify plant species, map invasive and protected species and extract features such as individual trees.
Clients can supply their own data (analysis as a service), hand Svarmi the whole project from data collection to reporting, or bring it in as an embedded R&D partner. Results are delivered as layers in Svarmi's DATACT platform or exported to any GIS platform. Svarmi, which began in Iceland in 2013 and also has a Zurich office, cites more than 13 years of remote-sensing experience and participation in EU-funded research projects. Swiss construction and environmental engineering company Eberhard Unternehmungen used a Svarmi forest inventory and digital twin to support its landfill expansion project in the canton of Zurich.
