GEONET GNSS Data Provision Service is the online distribution point of the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) for data from GEONET, its network of over 1,300 continuously operating GNSS reference stations spaced about 20 km apart across Japan. The stations observe signals from GPS, GLONASS, QZSS (Michibiki) and Galileo 24 hours a day, and the service gives surveyors, researchers and other users these observations and derived analysis results without operating their own reference receivers.
Users can download 30-second RINEX observation files (versions 2.11, 2.12 and 3.02, with RINEX 4.01 in test release) and broadcast navigation files for each system, daily station coordinates from GSI's final (F5.1) and rapid (R5.1) analyses (the earlier F5 series is archived), hourly zenith tropospheric delay estimates, antenna phase-centre (PCV) correction data, and IGS precise orbits. Data is selected station by station on a web map, or retrieved in bulk over SFTP after registering an account; the older FTP site closes on 30 October 2026. Downloads are free of charge for public and private use in Japan, foreign researchers can apply for access, and GSI assigns DOIs to the datasets.
GSI states that the station data is used as known points for public GNSS surveys, for monitoring crustal deformation and correcting survey results and maps for it, and for estimating atmospheric water vapour to improve precipitation forecasts. The service provides data only: official survey result coordinates are published through a separate GSI service, and real-time 1-second data is distributed through private location-service providers rather than by GSI.

Geospatial Information Authority of Japan
The Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI), part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, is the competent authority under Japan's Survey Act and conducts national surveying and mapping. It maintains triangulation points, benchmarks and GPS-based control stations that continuously observe satellite signals, used for public surveys, crustal movement observation and disaster-prevention research. It also prepares base maps such as the nationwide 1:25,000 topographic series, thematic maps for disaster prevention and aerial photographs, and makes integrated geospatial information available online.
