FSQ Spatial Studio is Foursquare's cloud-based geospatial workspace for making maps and analysing large spatial datasets in a web browser. It aims to cut data-preparation time before location data can be visualised and shared. Formerly Unfolded Studio and then Foursquare Studio, it has been marketed under this name since July 2025, when Foursquare positioned it as a free visualisation playground for map makers in its FSQ Spatial family.
Built on the open-source kepler.gl framework, Studio renders data on the user's GPU. Users import files such as CSV, GeoJSON and Shapefiles, style them as vector, 3D, H3 and other layer types, apply joins, group-bys, filters and analysis modules (cluster and outlier, suitability), and publish maps by URL or export images and video.
Satellite data is an optional input. The Raster Tile layer displays satellite and aerial imagery held as Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs; Foursquare's documentation lists Sentinel-2 L2A and Landsat 8 imagery in the Data Catalog's Remote Sensing section. Band presets, including true colour, infrared, NDVI and normalised burn ratio, are computed in the browser, and two dates can be compared in swipe or side-by-side view. Users can add their own imagery through STAC metadata.
A REST Data API, a Python Data SDK and a Map SDK for JavaScript and Python manage data and embed maps in web applications and notebooks. The Community plan is free with 1 GB of storage; Enterprise is custom-priced and adds team collaboration, more connectors and Hex Tiles. Foursquare's case studies name Replica and Kontur as users.
