Forest Intelligence Suite

Forest Intelligence Suite is the forest data platform and API of Terra Labs, a Swedish AI company. It is aimed at forest owners and forestry organisations whose planning still rests on costly periodic field inventories and management plans that change little over time. Terra Labs' AI models combine high-resolution satellite imagery with other data sources, such as laser scanning and harvester data, to keep a continuously updated description of whole forest estates. Coverage currently spans all forest in Sweden, with high-resolution monitoring back to 2010.

The suite has four modules. Timber finds harvest areas, owned or to contract, that meet a buyer's timber assortment needs. Inventory describes the forest as it stands today, including height, age, standing volume, yearly growth and tree species mix. Activities proposes management actions such as thinning and final harvest and monitors them for follow-up. Maps provides consistent, up-to-date maps over time. Results are available in a web platform with a natural-language agent and through an API that connects them to customers' own tools and workflows.

Terra Labs partners with Airbus Defence and Space, uses Airbus's Earth observation constellation to map and monitor forests, and is Airbus's exclusive imagery reseller in Sweden. Customers include the Swedish forest owners' associations Södra (2.8m ha), which feeds the inventory data into its forest planners' app and used the platform to assess damage after Storm Dave, Mellanskog (1.7m ha), which uses it to power its Skogstorget platform, and Norra Skog. Mellanskog's Chief Digital Officer has called Terra Labs the first on the market to produce fully digital forest management plans matching the quality of human-made ones. Terra Labs also supplies forest data to banks and insurers.
