FireView is Forsite's wildfire intelligence suite for communities, utilities, land managers and insurers. It addresses a common weakness in wildfire planning: provincial fuel maps are often derived from photo-interpreted forest inventories that can be 50 or more years old, are unvalidated, and come at a single, often coarse resolution.
At its core is Forsite's Fuel ID pipeline, which applies machine learning to Sentinel-2 satellite imagery to produce current Canadian Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) System fuel-type maps. Where airborne LiDAR is available, Fuel ID also predicts 56 canopy, mid-story and surface fuel attributes, with accuracy (R²) generally above 0.5 and many variables above 0.75. Satellite-only fuel types cover all of British Columbia at 10 m and all of Alberta at 30 m. FBP fuel maps have also been produced for Saskatchewan. A weather database built on ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis (back to 1950) and Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts supplies Fire Weather Index inputs.
FireView runs fire behaviour and growth models, including Forsite's own PYroCell as well as W.I.S.E., Prometheus, BURN-P3 and FlamMap, to deliver fire-spread forecasts, burn probability and ignition analytics, directional exposure and rate-of-spread distance analysis, risk and prioritisation layers, and scenario comparisons for fuel-treatment design. Capabilities are modular. Typical uses are daily fuels and fire-behaviour feeds for utility situational awareness, community wildfire resiliency plans, right-of-way fire management for industrial corridors, and wildfire hazard reports for development permits. Fuel ID results have been used to plan fuel treatment locations in Calgary.
