ESP Ocean is an ocean shipment visibility and planning platform from ESP Logistics Technology, introduced in January 2024. It addresses the poor quality and accuracy of shipment data that leaves freight forwarders, cargo owners and drayage operators spending time and resources trying to track goods on long offshore supply chains.
The platform tracks ships and containers with Spire's AIS vessel-tracking data, which Spire collects with its radio-frequency satellite constellation, together with Spire weather forecasts and more than 7,000 Esri Living Atlas data layers covering weather, geopolitical risk, seasonal peaks, and shipping-lane and port congestion. ESP states that it tracks 250,000 ships daily and draws on five years of worldwide historical ship intelligence. ESP's own algorithms and machine learning calculate ETAs with real-time adjustments, port dwell time before berthing, container availability and potentially missed transshipment connections, and report shipment milestones from empty-container gate-out to unloading at destination.
Users get customisable alerts with two-way communication, suggestions for mitigating identified risks, detention and demurrage monitoring, and configurable dashboards of tables, maps and charts. Forwarders can give their own customers tracking views. ESP Ocean brings data from existing yard, transportation and warehouse management systems and IoT sources into a single view, and runs on ESP's cloud-based geospatial platform built on Esri ArcGIS.

ESP Logistics Technology
ESP Logistics Technology provides a cloud-based geospatial platform for the supply chain, built on Esri ArcGIS, that gives real-time location intelligence and end-to-end visibility of assets such as trucks, chassis, containers, ships and aircraft. Its ESP Maestro platform integrates existing systems and uses machine learning to detect disruptions and recommend actions, with applications for ocean shipping (ESP Ocean), trucking (ESP Transport) and flight following (ESP Aviation). It also offers Notify, a location-based mass notification system for utilities and other organisations, and the Container 42 smart-container programme.
