EOxCloudless

EOxCloudless is a series of annual, near-cloud-free global mosaics derived from Copernicus Sentinel-2 Level-2A imagery at 10 m resolution, produced by EOX IT Services. Single satellite scenes are interrupted by clouds, haze, shadows and visible scene boundaries, which makes them hard to use as a consistent basemap or analysis input. EOX's semi-automatic processing analyses multiple observations per location within a defined time range of each year, selects pixels with minimal cloud contamination and good illumination, and applies BRDF correction and colour balancing. The 2025 release sets these time windows by ecoregion-based processing regions and adds a separate ocean-mosaicking pipeline.

The product comes in two lines. Viewing products (Viewing Ready as GeoPackage or MapCache SQLite single files; Viewing Basic as tiled GeoTIFFs) are 8-bit, colour-corrected RGB maps in EPSG:4326 and EPSG:3857 for web, app and offline basemaps. Exploitation products (Starter, 8-bit; Ready, 16-bit surface reflectance) carry red, green, blue and near-infrared bands for NDVI, time series, land monitoring and machine-learning pipelines, delivered as GeoTIFF tile directories readable through GDAL and QGIS.

Global datasets for the latest year are listed at EUR 6,000 to 18,000 (excluding VAT) under a commercial licence that permits use for an indefinite period, and regional subsets of the Exploitation products start from EUR 1,500 through the online order configurator. Single-file subsets, seasonal mosaics, custom colour correction, format conversion and very-high-resolution data integration are quoted on request. The 2018-2025 layers are free for non-commercial use under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 through OGC WMS/WMTS endpoints. EOX names users including Fraport's visitor-centre globe at Frankfurt Airport, NatureQuant and the University of Liverpool.
