EOX AgriApp is a cloud-based dashboard service for continuous remote-sensing analysis of agricultural parcels or, more generally, any monitoring area of interest. EOX developed it with GeoVille in the ESA-co-funded EO-WIDGET project so that CAP paying agencies can run the Area Monitoring System (AMS), codified in EU regulations as the “regular and systematic observation, tracking and assessment of agricultural activities and practices” using satellite data, primarily the Copernicus Sentinels.
The service imports farmers' parcel declarations (GSAA) and continuously pre-processes satellite imagery (cloud masking, time-series harmonisation, spectral indices) into parcel-level signals such as NDVI and SAR backscatter or coherence. The most common sources are Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2; for parcels too small for Sentinel resolution, signals come from Planet Fusion or similar products. Machine-learning or threshold-based markers (crop type, harvest, mowing, vegetation cover change) appear as chart annotations and map layers, and a compliance rule engine evaluates the paying agency's parcel-level rules. Users compare parcels, browse weekly image grids, record photo-interpretation judgements, and review confusion matrices and accuracy measures for crop-type classification. Results are also exposed through REST APIs, WMS endpoints and data pipelines for integration into the agency's IACS.
EOX also lists drought and irrigation monitoring, CO2 flux quantification, and nature capital and biodiversity monitoring as applications. EOX states that AgriApp has been in operative use at the Austrian and Irish paying agencies since early 2023, serving near real-time insights for millions of parcels; ESA reports a long-term contract between the GeoVille-EOX consortium and AgrarMarkt Austria.
