EO-Regions is the Earth observation services catalogue of SPACEBEL's AI & Earth Observation Applications department in Belgium. It serves forestry, agriculture, hazard management, and mining and raw materials, where authorities, landowners and operators need regular information over large areas that ground surveys cannot provide as cheaply.
For forestry, it offers monthly cloud-free true-colour and false-colour composites from Sentinel-2 (global, 2016 to present), tree detection with NDVI-based vitality, species mapping and urban canopy mapping. For Wallonia, Belgium, AI models trained on SPACEBEL's own databases detect and count individual trees and map their species, height and vitality from 25 cm imagery; these services are live. Agriculture services detect flooded rice paddies and ploughed fields, estimate the start of the growing season from Sentinel-1 radar and derive crop phenology from NDVI. Hazard services measure millimetric ground displacement by radar interferometry (Sentinel-1, COSMO-SkyMed or TerraSAR-X) and produce wildfire susceptibility and ignition-risk maps, developed within ESA's SAFEPLACE programme. Mining services cover mine stability monitoring with InSAR, pollution mapping around mine sites and a cloud data-exploitation platform offered under licence or as software-as-a-service.
Products are delivered as GeoTIFF, vector files, CSV and reports and are ordered through the sales team. SPACEBEL reports more than 200,000 hectares of forest mapped across Europe, South America and Africa, building on its ESA ForEOSt demonstration project, in which Timbtrack was an early adopter; the forestry services can also be ordered through Timbtrack's platform.
