ENVI Inform

ENVI Inform is NV5 Geospatial's automated monitoring service, part of its ENVI Ecosystem, for organisations that need to watch a site, a region or a whole country without processing large volumes of remote-sensing data themselves. It performs automated, cloud-based processing: as new imagery for an area of interest becomes available, it retrieves the data, runs standard or custom workflows built in ENVI (including ENVI SARscape for radar and machine-learning models), and compares the results against a historical baseline. Results are published into existing systems: the customer's GIS (for example ArcGIS), shared cloud storage, reports and web dashboards.

NV5 describes four applications: near-real-time surface change and land-use monitoring, maritime awareness, ground movement and asset inspection. In Chile, an automated deforestation service built on ENVI Inform processes Copernicus Sentinel-1 radar and Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery and produces updated results within hours of acquisition. Satellite Applications Catapult, working with the Church of England Pension Board, used it to demonstrate a SAR ground-motion monitoring service: it built a historical baseline (typically three years) and identified sub-centimetre ground motion around 50 mine tailings dams worldwide. A federal government agency combines satellite imagery with seasonal shipping-pattern data to flag suspicious vessel activity, and BladeEdge runs a drone-based wind-turbine blade inspection workflow on the service, reporting 98.8% accuracy in automatically locating damage.
