Elements Sea is the maritime domain awareness product of Privateer's Elements data-fusion platform. It addresses the blind spots of AIS-only vessel tracking: AIS gaps, transponders that are switched off or manipulated, fragmented data sources and delayed reporting that force analysts to stitch together incomplete information across multiple systems.
The product tracks vessels with a multi-INT approach, fusing AIS with radio-frequency (RF) signals, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro-optical satellite imagery so that custody of a vessel can be kept through AIS gaps. AI models flag indicators of suspicious behaviour such as AIS manipulation, unexpected course deviations, loitering, dark activity and ship-to-ship transfers, analyse past behaviour and project future movement. Users can monitor ports, chokepoints, offshore assets and critical infrastructure with configurable, geofenced alerts, use automated or human-in-the-loop tasking across collection assets, and export findings for dissemination across teams and agencies. Insights are delivered through Privateer's platform interface and accompanying APIs.
Privateer positions it for defence and security operations, coastal and EEZ monitoring, enforcement against illegal fishing and trafficking, port and trade-route analysis, and marine insurance underwriting. Privateer launched its maritime vessel-tracking tool as TerraScope Maritime in November 2024. In July 2024 the US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency selected Orbital Insight, a Privateer company, for up to $2 million in pilot funding under Project Aegir to identify, monitor and track illicit maritime vessel activity in the Indo-Pacific. In May 2026 Privateer announced a partnership to integrate Lloyd's List Intelligence AIS data into its maritime analytics.
