DroughtView is a UK-wide drought hazard dataset from Map Impact that indicates the relative susceptibility of each location to drought under current and future climate scenarios. Drought and drought-driven subsidence are under-assessed in UK risk frameworks compared with flood; Map Impact's 2026 white paper finds that up to 25% of properties are vulnerable to subsidence.
The model combines Earth observation with soil moisture, soil composition, land cover and hydrological data and UKCP18 climate projections. According to Map Impact's methodology, DroughtView uses vegetation indices such as NDVI from Sentinel-2, with Landsat thermal data used for land surface temperature, alongside Map Impact's own BiodiversityView habitat dataset. Indicators are harmonised to a 50 m national grid, weighted into a composite hazard score, grouped into hazard classes and linked to Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs). Scenario deltas aligned to RCP/SSP pathways give future scores for horizons such as 2030, 2050, 2070 and 2100. The output describes hazard only: it does not estimate subsidence probability or financial loss.
DroughtView is delivered as UPRN-linked tables, through an API and as GIS layers, with a data dictionary and methodology documentation, and is updated annually. It is aimed at lenders and insurers (portfolio screening, ECL assessment, climate stress testing and PRA SS5/25), housing and planning, and land management. Martello includes DroughtView data in its conveyancing environmental search reports.

Map Impact
Map Impact is a Bristol-based company that produces asset-level climate and nature risk data, combining Earth Observation science with ecological, hydrological and climate inputs. Its proprietary datasets are BiodiversityView, which covers Great Britain at land-parcel scale, and HeatView, DroughtView and WildfireView, which cover the UK at property scale; they are delivered through data licensing, APIs, GIS layers and portfolio analytics. Customers include financial institutions, housing providers, local authorities and infrastructure operators, who use the data for risk screening, planning and regulatory disclosure.
