Wind turbines and dams can shift, settle or shake in ways that threaten their safety. Weihai Wuzhou Satellite Navigation Technology's Displacement Monitoring System tracks these structures with GNSS receivers and accelerometers. The company's own GNSS analysis algorithm, with an anti-error model and Kalman filtering, computes millimetre-level solutions in real time from BeiDou, GPS and GLONASS signals, using monitoring stations processed against a reference station.
The wind farm edition pairs high-precision GNSS receivers with accelerometers that sample at high and ultra-high frequency (±2 g range), and reports seismic shaking, horizontal and vertical displacement and estimated wind speed alongside the raw GNSS and seismograph data. The dam edition measures three-dimensional surface displacement of the dam by GNSS and spillway subsidence by hydrostatic levelling, and combines these with piezometers, tiltmeters, rain and temperature/humidity gauges, ultrasonic water-level and water-quality sensors and cameras, and can take in data from instruments already installed. Results appear in the provider's data-centre software, with GNSS sky-plot, station deformation analysis and deformation warning screens, and in a monitoring management system with real-time displacement displays; the dam system uses cloud computing to connect several reservoirs for regional, networked monitoring. It is aimed at dam and reservoir operators, government water management agencies and research institutions. The provider states the equipment is resistant to severe cold and high temperatures.
