DataSafra is Geoambiente's agricultural monitoring platform for banks, insurers, trading companies and cooperatives that lend to, insure or buy from rural producers. It addresses slow, manual and document-based risk analysis, socio-environmental risks that are hard to cross-check by hand, and the lack of visibility into whether, what and how much a producer has actually planted.
The platform has three modules, which can be contracted individually or as an integrated package. Socio-environmental Compliance produces reports with a property map, risk indicators and compliance status by cross-referencing official public databases, including indigenous lands, quilombola areas, conservation units, archaeological sites, IBAMA and ICMBio embargoes, PRODES deforestation after 2008 and slave-like labour records. Crop History combines current land-use classification with the last five crop cycles, crop recurrence and recorded climate anomalies. Crop Monitoring follows the crop cycle in near real time from satellite imagery and vegetation indices: it confirms planting, crop and planted area, identifies phenological stages from emergence to senescence, and issues automated alerts on anomalies and deviations, with a new analysis run each time a new satellite image becomes available.
DataSafra runs on Google Cloud and uses Geoambiente's proprietary machine-learning and time-series pre-processing algorithms. Results are accessed through an online platform or an on-demand API, and more than 2,000 areas can be uploaded for simultaneous analysis. Geoambiente positions the product for Brazilian Central Bank rural-credit rules (CMN Resolutions 5.193 and 5.267) and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Pricing is progressive: the cost per hectare falls as the monitored area grows.
