The CropX agronomic farm management system is a digital agronomy platform for farmers, dealers, agronomic advisors and agribusinesses. It targets irrigation, nutrient and crop-protection decisions that are often made by feel, which wastes water and inputs and leaves crop stress undetected until it becomes visible.
The system combines data from CropX's own in-field hardware (Vertex and Apex soil sensors measuring moisture, temperature and salinity, the Evato actual-evapotranspiration sensor, the Strato weather station and the Rivo rain gauge), third-party sensors, weather forecasts, farm machinery data and satellite imagery. Multi-year multispectral imagery from Sentinel-2 and Landsat is processed into NDVI, SAVI and NDMI vegetation indices and true-colour maps, with AI-based cloud detection and ten years of historical productivity. Growers use it to monitor crop health, find in-field variability and build management zones for variable-rate seeding, fertiliser and irrigation prescriptions. CropX's own hydraulic, crop and disease models turn these inputs into irrigation recommendations, leaching and salinity alerts, and disease-risk and spray-timing advice, delivered through web, iOS and Android apps.
The platform exchanges data with machinery and irrigation systems from John Deere, CNH, CLAAS, Reinke and others, offers a custom API for agribusinesses, and compiles sustainability, Scope 3 emissions (through a Cool Farm Platform integration) and compliance reports. CropX states the system has been in production for more than ten years and operates in over 70 countries. In a published case study, LoPresti Farms in Colorado applied about one-third less irrigation water on sensor-managed corn with essentially unchanged yields. According to a 2023 AWS customer story, potato growers supplying PepsiCo Mexico use up to 25% less irrigation water with the platform, and the collaboration has since extended to countries including Colombia, Argentina, Egypt and Australia.
