CropGen

CropGen is a crop monitoring and advisory platform from LeanCrop Agritech Pvt. Ltd. (Pune, India) for farmers and farm managers, FPOs, agribusinesses, agri-input companies, exporters and insurers. It addresses late visibility of crop stress, inefficient fertiliser and water use, and generic advice by monitoring each field from satellite observation, with no hardware on the farm.

Users draw a field boundary or import it as GeoJSON, KML or Shapefile, then enter the crop and sowing date. The platform computes 12+ vegetation and water indices (including NDVI, EVI, SAVI, NDWI and a chlorophyll index) from Sentinel-2 imagery and switches to a radar satellite layer when cloud blocks optical scenes. Combined with NASA POWER and ERA5 weather data, SoilGrids and the farm details entered, it tracks growth stage (BBCH scale, growing degree days), estimates soil moisture, soil organic carbon and NPK status, issues pest and disease alerts, forecasts yield and delivers LLM-based advisories in the user's language. Outputs include management-zone maps on a 10-metre grid for variable-rate application, PDF farm and soil reports and an operations log used as an audit trail. For agribusinesses it also offers land-use and crop-type mapping, GHG emission and carbon-sequestration tracking, forest-area monitoring and crop-damage assessment for insurance claims.

CropGen is sold through a web app and an Android app on per-acre monthly or yearly subscriptions after a free trial. Enterprise plans add multi-user organisation workspaces, API/ERP integration and white-label deployments. CropGen was developed under Operation Dronagiri and piloted with farmers in Washim, Maharashtra, through the IIT Tirupati accelerator.
