Correlator3D is SimActive's end-to-end photogrammetry suite for generating geospatial data from satellite and aerial imagery, including drones. It is aimed at surveying, defence, construction, mining, forestry, agriculture and emergency-response teams that need accurate elevation models and maps over large areas, quickly.
The software performs aerial triangulation and produces dense digital surface models (DSMs), digital terrain models (DTMs), point clouds, orthomosaics, 3D models, Gaussian splat models and vectorized 3D features. Editing tools cover ground control points, tie points, DEMs and mosaics, and advanced tools add NDVI map creation, 3D change detection, volume calculation and lidar integration. For satellite work, SimActive lists support for GeoEye, WorldView, IKONOS, SPOT, RADARSAT-2, KOMPSAT and Pléiades imagery and sells a dedicated Satellite licence alongside its drone, medium-format and large-format editions.
Processing runs on GPUs and multi-core CPUs on a standard Windows PC, can be distributed across several networked PCs, and can run on AWS or Azure cloud virtual machines. Python scripting and a command line automate production workflows and let developers add photogrammetry to their own platforms.
Published satellite uses include DSMs generated from WorldView and GeoEye stereo images, which the Dutch company NEO B.V. uses to assess solar potential in multiple cities, and a RADARSAT-2 study for Natural Resources Canada covering more than 5,500 km² with an RMS error below 2.5 m. The European Union Satellite Centre purchased Correlator3D for DEM extraction. SimActive states that clients include thousands of users in more than 100 countries, and it also offers data processing, customised training and workflow optimisation services.
