The Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE) is the European Union's platform for open and free access to Copernicus Earth observation data. It is coordinated by the European Space Agency (ESA) on behalf of the European Commission and run by a consortium led by T-Systems with CloudFerro, Sinergise, VITO, ACRI-ST, RHEA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and it replaced the previous Copernicus data distribution channels.
The platform keeps the full archive of the Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3 and Sentinel-5P missions online, alongside Sentinel-6, Landsat 5, 7, 8 and 9, Terra and Aqua MODIS products, SMOS, and datasets from the Copernicus Land, Marine, Atmosphere and Emergency services. Very-high-resolution optical and radar data from Copernicus Contributing Missions, such as Pléiades, WorldView, PlanetScope, ICEYE and TerraSAR-X, are also hosted; downloading them is limited to eligible user categories such as Copernicus Services, EU institutions, EU research projects and national public authorities, while the general public can download only the global Copernicus DEM.
Users can search the catalogue through OData, STAC and the Sentinel Hub Catalog API, download over S3, stream imagery into GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS through OGC WMS/WMTS/WFS/WCS services, and process data next to the archive with openEO, the Sentinel Hub APIs, hosted JupyterLab, the Data Workspace and On-Demand Processing. The Copernicus Browser lets anyone view, analyse and download imagery in a web browser.
Access is free within monthly quotas; users who need more capacity can obtain it under commercial terms through the integrated CREODIAS service. CDSE reports 542,622 registered users by December 2025 and more than 242 PB of Earth observation data delivered to users in 2025.

Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem
The Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem is an open ecosystem that gives free, instant access to data and services from the Copernicus Sentinel missions and other sources on the planet's land, oceans and atmosphere. It is funded by the European Union and run under a European Space Agency contract by a consortium of European providers: T-Systems, CloudFerro, Sinergise, VITO Remote Sensing, DLR, ACRI-ST and Starion. Users work with the data through the Copernicus Browser, APIs such as STAC, openEO and Sentinel Hub, JupyterLab and on-demand processing tools.
