ClimateScore Global is Jupiter Intelligence's physical climate risk platform for banks, insurers, asset managers, real estate owners and infrastructure and industrial operators. It addresses a gap the provider describes in most physical risk data: hazard scores that are not linked to financial outcomes and cannot pass a bank's model risk management (MRM) review.
The platform downscales and bias-corrects projections from 25 global climate models (CMIP5 and CMIP6) and covers nine perils: flood, wildfire, wind, precipitation, heat, cold, drought, subsidence and hail. Metrics are available for 22.3 billion locations worldwide, with more than 22,000 values per location, under three IPCC-aligned scenarios in five-year steps to 2100. Satellite-derived data enter when the models are built: the wildfire model is trained on the satellite-based Global Fire Emissions Database (GFED4) and uses Copernicus Global Land Service land cover, and the platform is calibrated and validated against more than 30 public datasets, including satellite-derived flood extent (VIIRS, GIEMS-2), leaf area index and lightning records.
A financial layer links hazard metrics to expected loss, avoided loss and the return on adaptation investment. Six applications run on the platform: RiskSignal, Entity Modeling, MetricEngine, Adaptation Hub, Compliance Hub and MRM Accelerator. Delivery is through a SaaS application, an enterprise API and tailored analytics support.
Jupiter states that ClimateScore Global has passed MRM validation at Tier 1 banks and that its methods are documented and peer-reviewed. In 2023 Jupiter announced that Fannie Mae was using it to assess a mortgage portfolio backed by more than 17 million US residential properties.
